Robot & Triceratops t-shirt

Robot and Triceratops

This geek-chic shirt in baby blue sports an engaging motif: a bright blue robot astride a sepia-colored dinosaur. The bold retro-style print immediately evokes science fiction B-pictures of the ’50s, with their sensational battles and promises of heretofore undreamed-of excitement. But it also brings to mind those children’s games where toys from wildly different contexts interact together for no readily apparent reason, creating surreal juxtapositions of genre and scale. Tiny spacemen action figures do battle with enormous 11-inch tall fashion dolls or gargantuan pastel teddy-bears, the doll-house is requisitioned by a detachment of minuscule plastic army men, and the clockwork robot rides out on his loyal triceratops mount. Great stuff from happyfamily.

The Past and The Future

botty

This is a unique, hand crafted contraption with roots tied to the past and the future. By using old clock gears for its constituent internal parts, it hearkens back to the great craftsmen of the past, who painstakingly built the the grand machines of that age, which was the great clocks. Great skill and meticulous attention were needed to not only create the gears, but to also put them together in order to move with near-perfect, accurate precision. Along the same lines, the traditional ‘jack-in-the-box’ was also a worthy contraption to create, for you never knew what surprise you would get. And by using the robot motif, it is reaching out towards the future in which we have a world of automatons to serve us, right out of the box. This item is the embodiment of both the greatness of the past and of the anticipated future.

Cute Robot Tin Attacks!

Just don't use it to store medicine, robots love to eat medicine!

Just don't use it to store medicine, robots love to eat medicine!

It almost looks like a small Altoids tin. I love those things, they hold cigarettes, money, meds or any other small item that may need to be carried in a purse or a pocket that you need to keep safe and.. well. Unsquished. I also really like the robot design on the out side. It really suits the style I’ve established for myself. Wicked cute. AND apparently it’s one of a kind, which is just wonderful. I like the unique factor. Fun idea tinytins!

Art from the Hand, not the Printer

A long held fascination with robots and robot-like things.

A long held fascination with robots and robot-like things.

Its true, I’m a robot-a-holic. Chances are if it has a metal body and soulless eyes, I will find a place for it in my home (at least mentally). I found this tonight from an artist in Blue Springs, my hometown. My only critique is the size (as she mentions) and possibly the addition of the wording. Still, amazing imagery, JaelAlexandra!
